My son plays offensive and defensive tackle and was constantly getting his hands smashed between helmets. The padding on the top of the hands and fingers is perfectly placed and helped alleviate this problem. The palms of the gloves are tackified so it made it easier for him to hold onto his blocks longer on the offensive side of the ball, and grab and hold onto running backs and the quarterback when playing defense. We compared these glove to other brands at the local sports store before we bought them and they were the most functional of all of the others.
