(More customer reviews)My wife bought this glove for my son who is 8 years old, and 56 lbs.It was the only right handed glove at the store in his size.I think it'll last 3 years size wise, and decades quality wise.My son is not a serious ball player even for 8, so I probably wouldn't have bought this glove.I consider it overkill, but if you have a serious ball player (serious for 7 to 10 years old), this is a wonderful glove.

The leather is soft but firm and good quality.That's a plus and a minus.While it's not heart of the hide tough, it's still pretty firm, and unlike cheaper gloves or some decent ones like the Louisville Helix my daughter has, this one doesn't come pre-creased with a developed pocket.Given that fact and that most 7 to 9 year olds aren't throwing 45mph, this glove will require parental help during the breaking in period.(If you're like me, a righty with a lefty kid, expect to spend a lot of time throwing balls into your right hand unless you make a glove mallet!)

The glove also has a fairly shallow pocket, so while my son catches 11" softballs playing with his sister without bounce outs, I would still consider it an infielder style, not an outfielder style.I realize kids don't specialize at 8, but if yours likes a solid web, this might be the best youth third base/shortstop glove I've seen.It's great as a utility glove too, once broken in, but I definately wouldn't recommend it for softball outfielders.
