In other words, if you want someone to really feel your punches sparring, use these. If you want your punches to be padded, get the gloves with thicker, proper padding. I have these gloves for when I need white gloves or don't like the person I'm sparring, and I have real kumite mitts for real sparring and real tournaments.
I don't like that they say the brand in big letters across the back. When in an all white uniform like karate, it really makes you look bad. But its worth seeing the look on their face when you hit them. Your choice. Other mitts this shape are large, bulky, and look like you have pillows attached to your hand.
These are especially great for punching then grappling or take-downs. I can open and close my hand without a problem.
