I have spent an aggregate total of many days looking through them and I still get a tingle every time. Looking through them is pure magic. Distant objects jump into sharp relief against the background, birds seem to leap straight into your lap, sporting events take on a hyper-real edge. And looking at, say, a butterfly less than 10' away becomes a near-psychedelic experience.They are so crisp and unbelievably bright that the whole world seems to exist just for you to closely examine it. And I never get tired of the instant that a novice first puts them up to their eyes and finds their target and finds the focus ring and it all pops into perfect clarity... "Whoooooaaahhhh!!!"
Even the (very) high price of these binoculars does not dissuade me from bringing them to remote locations or loaning them out to people I barely know; they are incredibly rugged and their near-indestructibility means you can truly think of them as a long-term investment. Other than popping the lens caps on when I'm not looking through them, I've never thought twice about maintenance or care. In my view they long ago paid for themselves in terms of the time I've spent using them and the joy and beauty they've brought me.
I discovered Swarovski Optik in a rain forest in Costa Rica when my guide let me borrow his (SLC 10x42) to see a wild pig in the forest that I was unable to pick out with my own (Bushnell) binocs. The instant I looked through the Swarovskis I wanted to throw my own pair away; it was simply another level of brightness, sharpness, and field of view. When I came back to the states I went to B&H in NYC and looked through every pair they had... the Zeiss and Leica optics were comparable (at best), everything else seemed a joke in comparison. I looked initially at the Swarovski SLC 10x42s I had used in the jungle, but the ELs were much brighter. I noticed very little difference between the EL 10x32s and 10x42s, though, and the size and price difference made the 10x32s an obvious choice for me. After a few more months of sweating the cost, I took the plunge and have never regretted it for a second.

About Swarovski Optik
Although founded in 1949, Swarovski Optik's roots actually trace all the way back to 1895, when Austrian Daniel Swarovski--who invented the world's first electric grinding machine for jewelry stones--established the family-owned Swarovski Crystal in the province of Tyrol.
